The Trademark Office in Libya has finally resumed issuance of trademark registration certificates for applications in the 5000 series after a gap of more than three years owing to the civil unrest that hampered the regular functioning of the Libya TMO.
It should be noted that earlier on May 2010 the Libyan TMO had issued the first registration certificate for a trademark in the country after a 30- year block off. However, a civil unrest that broke out in early 2011 again resulted in hampering the functioning of the TMO. In fact the TMO had stopped all functions for more than a year following this. But in the last one year, there is quite a bit political stability country and things have limped back to normalcy.
